The Scarlet letter is the movie about one lady, Hester Prynne , she was punished and her baby was the excuse. In the society at that time the punishment seem to be harmful. For the one who made the mistake they would be punished and also there would be the explaination sign for the reason why they got punished.

Hester Prynne's case of the punishment is quite different because she got married and during her husband was not in the town she got pregnant with one guy in the town. And people in the town judged that it was a sin and that guy was a secret person. Hester didn't want to tell anybody beause she didn't want him to be in trouble.

Five years later when the child grew up. She was a cute little girl but people in the town didn't treat her really well because the little girl's mother had the scarlet letter and actually the letter was a letter "A". Also the little young girl had some trouble with the other kids.

Until one day the guy who was a little girl's father he couldn't be patient with watching his wife and child to be annoyed by the people in the town. So he decided to spoke out in the confession stand that he was the father of the little girl. And then he passed away because he had the pain inside for a while ago and it was because of the punishment of Hester Prynne.

This was a good summary. Can you imagine living in a town like that? I think it would be pretty difficult.

As I mentioned in class, these villages and towns were experimenting with the idea of living their strict religions. All of the towns people came from the same place and felt pretty much the same way. Quite frankly these were not successful as the towns got bigger and the kids got smarter.

A few villages still exist in America where you have some of this same upbringing. The Amish in Indiana and in Pennsylvania still live very strict lives. They are an interesting people to learn about. Most even speak a very ancient form of German as they fled form Gemany because of their religion.

Really a very nice and complete write up. For you next movie, try to see some characteristics which might be called American.

I'm not picking on you, but just by chance, I liked the topic and what Mr. C. wrote about.

Actually, there are many, many towns and religions that do the same thing in the U.S.. It is hard to believe, but it is big time true. Besides the Quakers, there is a fundamentalist Jewish society which lives in New York City. They don't believe in Israel at all. They grow long hair and long beards and they spend much of their time reading their religious books and discussing their opinions.

Saw a documentary on them, just the other day. An 18 year old, young man, decided to leave them. Once he did, he was ostracized and ex-communicated. The poor kid had no idea how to live in the real world, and if he went back to see his parents or friends, they would act like he wasn't even there.

We have churches that believe they should be holding rattlesnakes, which can kill you, in a service. In Tennessee, we had churches that believe in drinking poison. I think they exist no more, because they died out. Hee, Hee.

And then there is the Mormon thing that is going on right now. Mormons who believe one man can marry many wives. His name is Warren Jeffs. Look his name up on google. He is number 5 in the FBI's top wanted, and believe me, this is about his interpretation of how he sees Mormonism.

Plug in to google, David Koresh, and read about him. He. himself, was marrying girls who were 13 or younger.

And tell Mr. C., that Jack Anderson just read my email, "AGAIN." Hee, hee, hee. That means another million people heard or read my opinions or writing. Go for it, Tori. Don't be scared of him; he is a "marshmellow man."
